Click here and subscribe to keep up to date (ish) HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 55 and still alive (and kickin'!).   No words can describe just how blessed I am to have this man in my life.  Scott, the leader of our little family, a Jesus follower, and the most humble man you will ever meet makes our family live, laugh and love harder than you can ever imagine! Today is going to be a fun day!  Who knows what we will do.....go for a walk on the beach and search for shark teeth? Play some Mölkky on the beach - if you haven't played, let's set up a day to share this awesome game we learned while living in Nicaragua! (Thank you Nel) Whatever today calls for, just know that Scott can't believe he is 55!  It's not like the 55 we imagine when we were kids that's for sure!   There's no reason why Scott can't do another 55 years!  Here's to another 55 years of crazy fun!  Love you babe!

Forever a Firefighter! (And making fires!)

There's no way after a lifelong career as a firefighter could this man ever stop being one!  It's in his heart and soul!   Scott is setting the ultimate example for our boys - he continues to train daily for a passion that will never cease - being a firefighter! Just this past week Scott went to the Season Opener of the Firefighting challenge where he did the Firefighting Challenge Course.   On its website www.firefighterchallenge.com it states that the Firefighting Challenge League pits elite firefighters from around the world against each other – and the clock. The athletes enter the skills-based challenge course known as the LION® Arena of the Brave to complete Five Essential Functions – High-Rise Pack Carry, Hose Hoist, Forcible entry, Hose Advance, Victim Rescue – and the competitor with the best time within each division wins.  The "victim" being rescued is 175 pound Rescue Randy - and he is taller than Scott! Scott got to meet a World Champion - Jared Johnson

Check it out!  Go to the upper left corner of this blog and you'll find 3 lines.  Click on those lines and you'll see that you can now get updates via email!  Just click on Eli's subscribe! Thanks Frances for helping me FINALLY get this on our blog.   My original plan was to keep updates weekly.  I will do my best to keep them coming as I have come to realize that when I am a day or two behind, I have sweet friends texting and WhatsApping me with the loving phrase, "are you ok?"  I LOVE that you are checking in on us.  To answer your question, YES, we are definitely OKAY!   We've been on Amelia Island for a while now and have enjoyed catching up with our friends and making new ones.  One thing I love about the island is that it is so easy to talk to just about anyone.   For example: We met a nice couple at the picnic tables where we were having our lunch.  We were talking about the eclipse and the gentleman said he had extra glasses. he gave them to us!   Al

Climbing Towers and Bridges

While we are still in transition, waiting on the closing of a home in Florida, we have tried to involve ourselves in different fundraising events, such as the Fight For Air Climb at the Bank of America Tower.   Although we aren't on social media, we have been given a screenshot of this instagram from First Coast News!  How cool! I spoke of this in our last post and can't thank you enough for all of your support!  I was so pleased to receive phone calls and texts on the day of the event wishing Eli and Scott the best.   As you can see, Papa and Eli climbed the stairs and had a blast.  Scott enjoys making the intentional effort to disciple and mentor Eli through fun fundraising events.  Not only do they both treasure their time together, they continue to build a strong relationship while encouraging faith development.   We were pleased to run into friends we haven't seen since moving to Colorado.  Naturally we knew we'd run into them.  These are good people who choose to
