Climbing Towers and Bridges
While we are still in transition, waiting on the closing of a home in Florida, we have tried to involve ourselves in different fundraising events, such as the Fight For Air Climb at the Bank of America Tower.
Although we aren't on social media, we have been given a screenshot of this instagram from First Coast News! How cool!
I spoke of this in our last post and can't thank you enough for all of your support! I was so pleased to receive phone calls and texts on the day of the event wishing Eli and Scott the best.
As you can see, Papa and Eli climbed the stairs and had a blast. Scott enjoys making the intentional effort to disciple and mentor Eli through fun fundraising events. Not only do they both treasure their time together, they continue to build a strong relationship while encouraging faith development.
We were pleased to run into friends we haven't seen since moving to Colorado. Naturally we knew we'd run into them. These are good people who choose to pursue the same events we do, not only because it's fun, but the community that holds the event together is like another family.
Since we were in the area, we went back to Wolfson Children's Hospital and back to where Enzo spent almost 3 months on Wolfson 5. Enzo went back to visit the amazing people who took care of him. First thing Enzo said was...."HOLA!"
Next up? Time to train for the Run the Vilano Bridge 5k/10k. The Vilano bridge connects the mainland to Vilano Beach.
Naturally we need to take advantage of our time in the sun, with some fun! I kid you not, if I could build a house that surrounded a pool, Enzo would be the happiest kiddo in the world!
Finally the day came and look who was up and ready! Nonna! Now it's time for the whole family to do an event together.
While Papa and Eli were running the 5K, Nonna, Enzo and I were enjoying every bit of the course in a more relaxed manner (power walking). Take a good look at that bridge, we had to cross it twice! The bridge is about a mile long and has a long steady climb. The view from the top is where you can see both the Atlantic Ocean and A1A on one side, and all of St. Augustine on the other. It was breathtaking!
Oh, did I forget to mention that Nonna won 2nd place in her age group! Nonna is such a positive role model in how to continue living and enjoying fun events! I truly enjoy the louder applauses for the older age groups. People are inspired!
Sorry for the grainy photo, we were at a distance when Nonna's name was called to the podium. Even she was surprised to find herself heading up to grab her award.
Although we all miss our worldly travels, we know it is best to be patient and enjoy our time back in the states. Being in Florida certainly makes it easier...there's always something fun to do almost every day!
Until the next post! May God continue to Bless Us All!
It was absolutely wonderful seeing you all. Scott and Eli did great in the climb. Hope to see you again soon.
