Forever a Firefighter! (And making fires!)

There's no way after a lifelong career as a firefighter could this man ever stop being one!  It's in his heart and soul!

Scott is setting the ultimate example for our boys - he continues to train daily for a passion that will never cease - being a firefighter!
Just this past week Scott went to the Season Opener of the Firefighting challenge where he did the Firefighting Challenge Course.

On its website www.firefighterchallenge.com it states that the Firefighting Challenge League pits elite firefighters from around the world against each other – and the clock. The athletes enter the skills-based challenge course known as the LION® Arena of the Brave to complete Five Essential Functions – High-Rise Pack Carry, Hose Hoist, Forcible entry, Hose Advance, Victim Rescue – and the competitor with the best time within each division wins.

The "victim" being rescued is 175 pound Rescue Randy - and he is taller than Scott!
Scott got to meet a World Champion - Jared Johnson - who has run the course in 1:16.  He is a firefighter in Austin, is a beast and is super nice.  He gives tips in person and online regarding how to become more efficient and skilled on the course.
While Scott was at the event, the boys and I watched excitedly from the livestream on YouTube.  Talk about a fun and exciting way to spend a couple of days!
In other news, I am learning how to cut hair with clippers.  I am going to be Enzo and Scott's personal barber.  Eli is still on the fence about letting me cut his hair. ha ha
After cutting Enzo's hair, I took him for a nice walk.  He loves to walk and explore his surroundings whether it's on a trail or at the beach!
We can't resist going to the beach.  The ocean beckons us back as much as possible.  With some of the windier days you can hear the rhythmic crash of the waves luring you back.  It's such a calming sound.
Up until May 1st (the beginning of turtle nesting season) you can have campfires on the beach.  There was no way we could pass up another chance of getting a fire started.

I can't think of a better way to end a night at the beach.  Although no camping is allowed (boo), we make the most of it.  While Eli is enjoying his beach fire, Enzo is on the wet sand tossing his tennis ball in the air.  The squeals of excitement make my heart dance with joy.  What a great day to remember.
