Volunteering and Touristing (is that a word?)

As a Boy Scout, Eli is called to offer his time, skills and desire to serve within his community.  Eli got that chance at the Coastal Clean Up on our little island.

True to the Brock Family lifestyle, Eli was ALL IN on this clean up and would have volunteered even without the request of his local Boy Scout leader!
Together, both Papa and Eli spent two hours helping clean up the beach, picking up all sorts of trash that did not belong.  Just like we always believe, "more is caught than taught," Scott also was ALL IN with his mission to spend two hours at the clean up.  Eli followed his every move!  Well done, Papa!
Afterwards, V's Pizza provided a free meal to all the volunteers who participated.  Scott and Eli got to the restaurant and there were tons of people.  It's good to see our community really getting involved to keep our beaches clean!
That same day we had a fun time with Nonna and Valentino.  They decided to come up for the weekend for a quick visit.

It was a fun trip for her as she really wanted to travel with her little pet and our area is very dog friendly, even the sharks won't bother Valentino.  😂

With so much space to explore, we enjoyed walking around the island with our little furry Valentino.
Naturally we took her to all the tourist restaurants right on the beach.  Who doesn't want a view of the sun and ocean while eating!?

We may or may not have stolen this idea from the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding!"  😂. If you've seen the movie, you know exactly what we are trying to do here!  If not, go see the movie, it's hilarious!😂
It was a very active weekend outside all day long!  Despite the silly look on Enzo's face, he truly enjoyed walking around following Valentino and being outside.  This is what our family was meant to do, be outside every moment of every day!

I think Enzo just wanted to be free and run on his terms.
By the end of the weekend we must have walked 1000's of steps and Valentino wanted to rest.

From the Northern tip of the island to the southern tip, we made sure to share our beautiful island with Nonna.  She's already planned her next trip back!
I know not everyone is a fan of tourists or living in an area that is a tourist destination.  Since living in Key West, we have truly embraced living in a destination that people desire to visit.  The best part is that we can be tourists too in our own town and meet some very neat people, like the family that owned this amazing vessel.

Over 4 stories in height, over 100 feet in length and with 2 smaller boats on it, Eli and I got to hear stories about traveling across the Atlantic as well as traveling up and down the east coast of the United States.  I was way off when I guessed the price of this beauty.  I guessed 1 million dollars.  I can't remember what they said, but I was way off!  Guess we won't be buying one of these anytime soon.

As the weather gets cooler we'll be exploring more of our island, our state and our surrounding areas!
