Ultrasounds, dilated eyes and the ER

First, Enzo is fine!  His body has been through a lot since December and he is still recovering...so here's what has happened....

As you can see Enzo is such a trooper.  He takes his trips to doctors and the ER with stride....

So let me start from the beginning of the day.  Since no one knows what caused Enzo's inflammation of his duodenum and pancreas, Enzo has to have follow ups following his Jan. 3rd surgery.

We needed to do bloodwork and an ultrasound.  We decided to do this all in one day.

First stop, Wolfson Children's Hospital radiology.  I am totally blown away by how calm Enzo can be when he is being poked and prodded.  Now, before we all celebrate his calm stature, I have to laugh because he keeps saying "nooooooooo" when we want him to get on the bed and "nooooooooooo" when the tech puts gel on his body.  Still, Enzo might say "nooooooooo" but he is very compliant. What a sweet boy!
After Enzo's ultrasound, we went to see Nonna and her dog, Valentino.  Enzo was super excited to see them both!
Enzo loves dogs and was getting lots and lots of kisses and licks from Valentino!
Next we went to Nemour's Ophthalmology.  It has been a while since Enzo has had a dilated eye check.  What a joy to see Enzo actually enjoying some of the exams he had to complete.  I think he actually had so much fun doing it!
Enzo was asked to play a matching game.  It was the most fun he ever had during an eye exam and boy did he nail it!

On another note, Enzo's eyes are great and the prescription will remain the same with the bifocals helping his "lazy and wandering" eyes.

Because Enzo's eyes were dilated we decided to head straight back to our place to relax.
Just as we got back to our place, Enzo was significantly uncomfortable.  He began screaming and crying.  You could see the confusion and frustration in Enzo's face as he looked at us for answers to why he was in so much pain.

We drove back to Wolfson Children's Hospital and went straight to the ER.  Enzo had another ultrasound, more blood work and even an x-ray of his abdomen.

When Enzo was a teeny infant, x-ray machines gave Enzo quite the fright, so much so that he would cry and vomit.  Look at him now!  Enzo went straight up to the machine with wide eyes of curiosity.  After a thorough look at the machine, Enzo eagerly hopped on the x-ray bed.  He laid still for the x-ray and even smiled as he got off!
Naturally while in the ER, Enzo was not in pain, not crying and was having fun in the ER.....ha ha.  In fact, Enzo was the calmest I have ever seen him in a medical setting.

What we found out was that Enzo has a lot of poop in his colon.  (This causes Enzo to have intermittent pain).  Enzo's GI is still struggling to function normally and, well, that causes a bit of a back up and pain.  This back up causes intermittent severe pain.  Fortunately that's what it was and we were back in our place just shy of midnight ready to get some rest.
What about Eli?  We are blessed to have angels in our lives who took Eli without hesitation.  Thank you so much Jaime and Craig!

Eli had a great time fishing, trying his hand at the Rubik's cube and staying up late watching one of his favorite movies!  It was a win win for everyone!
Life is back to normal here.  The boys are closer than ever as we continue to settle in with life back in the states.  Thanks to everyone who has helped us adjust back to life here.  It's been a whole lot easier with friends welcoming us back with open arms.  We are blessed!
