It's time to catch up! Tenerife - Barcelona - USA
It's been weeks since I have updated anyone on what we are doing. It's been crazy. You see, we got used to the slower pace of life and as our time was ending in Tenerife, we wanted to make sure we were out and about as much as possible, yet preparing ourselves to leave (somehow being in a place for almost 3 months gets you out of the routine of packing ha ha ha). I was not ready for the hectic pace of the mainland nor the USA.
We made sure to take a lot of walks. We knew once we left we would probably never walk as much, as far or AS MANY HILLS as we did in Tenerife.
What was cool was that our final days involved "Subida a Tamaimo 2023". Search it on YouTube NOW! It was a neat experience for the weekend to see the cars, registration and of course hear the motors throughout the day. This was the fire crash crew which we just had to get a picture with Eli!
There were cars everywhere you looked. The energy, the party vibe was contagious and everyone was having fun! Before we left, we wanted to make sure we got haircuts. 3 cuts at $24 TOTAL! We couldn't pass that up!
Everyone liked their haircuts! This guy here! BOOM! What a man. He nailed it with creating a fun time for Enzo! The chemistry between the two was just so sweet. His Spanish was super fast but we had a fun conversation about living in Puerto Santiago, the race happening and food (he gave us some recommendations). Our favorite restaurant was THE VIEW! First, let's talk about the view! Beautiful! I ate my first meal at The View on my birthday and went back probably a half a dozen times. Dare I say this is by far the BEST restaurant I have ever eaten at? Possibly! YES! It's is! The spacious patio was perfect for our family. Every single meal we ordered was crazy yummy and the couple that owned it were so stinking sweet!
It's a great meeting place for friends too! Check out this amazing couple! Carol is Puerto Rican, so she's amazing from the get go, of course. We hit it off in an instant! Carol and her husband travel the world but live in Florida. These are my peeps! The stories they told, the conversations we had, the connection.....we could have stayed at The View restaurant for days!
This is the dad of the owner. Her parents came down to visit her and her husband and then the parents ended up working with them to help cook, serve and clean! PAELLA to die for!
If you want THE BEST pizza on Tenerife, go to Aldo's! The owner is Italian, and his wife from Maldova. They know pizza and they do it right! Oh, did I mention that 3 pizzas, 4 beers and a sparkling drink for Eli only cost about 30 Euros. That was our go-to for Friday Pizza Night! This is the dad of the owner. Her parents came down to visit her and her husband and then the parents ended up working with them to help cook, serve and clean! PAELLA to die for!
Oh, Tenerife, I will miss you so much! What a great place to discover!
Final days, final plays! We said goodbye to our friends and neighbors and headed to the airport!
This airport is known for it's cloudy days. We got a beautiful and sunny day!
Off to Barcelona! Our first night in Barcelona and guess what was the view from our window!
It's the world famous Sagrada Familia! Doesn't the background look so fake! It isn't! This was our little 2 bedroom Air bnb and we really got lucky on this gem! First we had to find breakfast! Bristol Café is the place to go! This is a restaurant owned by an Argentinian who knows how to cook breakfast with flair!
Mimosas and desserts after finishing up our breakfast. Yep, forgot the breakfast photos. Scott just had to have a scone with cheese and jam. It was worth staying!
Pancakes, nutella, bananas topped with homemade whipped cream and fresh raspberries!
The apartment was located in a very old building. So old that the elevator did not fit the 4 of us! To use the elevator you have to open the cage doors, then the wooden doors, step in, close the gates and the wooden doors then push two buttons to get to your floor which was 5 but the first floor is actually 0 so I guess we were on the 6th floor but it's the 5th floor. ha ha. Make sense?
Guess who wanted to ride the elevator the whole time!
We decided to have the ice cream, but man, doesn't that chocolate look amazing?
Our final night was memorable. Who knew we would ever be in Barcelona, a big big city that is way out of my comfort zone! We slept great and headed to the airport.Sunrise over the Balearic Sea. Yes, I thought it was the Mediterranean too but my homeschool kiddo reminded me that it was indeed the Balearic Sea and it is part of the Med. Cool!
While in the airport I ran into the mom of one of my friends! It's a small world. We were headed to ATL from BCN and we were early. Scott overheard some women speaking English, but with a Southern accent (from Louisiana) and he began talking to them. Since I was wearing my YogaFaith shirt it sparked a conversation that ended up discovering that my yoga partner during class, Stacey, was the daughter of the lady I was talking to!
Did you know Enzo loves airplanes? BUT he doesn't like walking in the aisle and then he tries to hide under the seat. Don't worry, he really loves airplanes and always gets a window seat.
Am I prepared or what? Time to charge EVERYTHING! It is a 9 hour and 9 minutes flights. But wait, when the plane was pushed back, it was accidentally pushed too hard and something from the nose of the plane broke. 2 1/2 hour later after a thorough inspection and ALL OF US staying in our seats, the plane was ready for take-off!
Guess who was happy to be flying! Boy, I couldn't believe how patient both boys were during the delay! It was exactly what we needed!

I think we're getting used to this traveling thing. 4 backpacks, 2 carry ons! Oh and our snorkel fins! We headed to ATL! To be continued.....
