Dollar Wine!!!

Okay, so maybe the wine isn't exactly a buck...but can you beat these prices?  It's unbelievable how inexpensive wine is here.  If there is a yellow or orange tag, the wine is on sale (or promoción) and the shelf is empty.  Who can resist?  And YES!  It tastes good!

What else?  The price of a case of eggs is just under 4 euros, hummus is almost 1 euro and bread is also hovering around the 2 euros price.  Chicken, fish, meats....all are much less than in the states (as of this post) but cheese is EXPENSIVE!

Finally, we have to mention gas.  It's not cheap either. As of this writing it is about 1.30 euros per liter, it's no wonder walkability and public transportation is so good here. Yes, the public transportation is really amazing costing nothing for residents and hardly anything for visitors.

So each place we go we find a new routine.  What is life really like?  Some people think we are on a constant vacation.  Maybe?

We used to live in Key West, Florida.  Now that is a hot vacation spot.  It's practically paradise and so much fun.  Yes, it was like a constant vacation but don't forget, we had to make a living.

Scott worked at the fire department, I did my work too, either at the Florida Keys Community College or being a tour conductor on The Old Town Trolley Tours (the two bigger jobs I had, of many while living in the keys).

In the end, I did feel like we were on a constant vacation of some sort and loved the fact that we were able to enjoy life as a local or a tourist.  Having lived there so long, that became the lifestyle we both enjoyed.  Sun, fun, ocean, repeat.

Of all the places we have lived, Key West was the location we called home the longest.

Usually we begin our day quietly waking up with the sun.  Yoga is a must as we want to avoid the dreaded side effects of aging.  Enzo is usually still asleep while we do our yoga (yes, we, as in Scott too) and  Eli does his "Bullyjuice" youtube workouts in another room.  We do our best to keep Enzo asleep as he does best with a full night's rest and waking up naturally.
We alternate days on when we go to the workout park.  One day it'll be Scott and Eli.

The opposite days it'll be me and Eli.  There are plenty of playgrounds for kids and adults to choose from and the walk and view are worth every effort.
On rare days Enzo wakes up early and will join us at the playground and again we take turns working out.  Sometimes it works...
Sometimes it doesn't.  We take turns.  It's just our normal and we roll with the punches.  Sometimes Enzo just doesn't want to wear pants, or shoes, or socks....ha ha ha
On the tougher days we'll just throw our hands in the air and drive to our favorite spot, the View Restaurant.  I don't think I've ever tasted breakfast this amazing in my entire life. You think I am exaggerating?  The owner/chef knows how to cook salmon avocado smash, salmon eggs benedict and a simple ham and cheese croissant breakfast sandwich that oozes and melts in your mouth!
The View Restaurant is on a cliff that provides a crisp and perfectly refreshing breeze that comes straight from the crystal clear blue ocean.  About 70+ km away you can see the island of La Gomera.  Look above and you have a aqua blue sky without a cloud in the sky.
Croissant and nutella.  That's all Eli needs!  Nope, not healthy but it's a homemade croissant and after a tough workout at the playground he earned it!
Our homeschool schedule is Saturday through Wednesday and we use Thursday and Fridays as our weekends for excursions, trips, drives, and more.  Both Enzo and Eli are doing amazing with homeschool work.
We have days when homeschool is done early and we treat ourselves to a little break.
Tenerife is a very popular tourist destination for people from the mainland of Europe as well as the UK.  So the weekends get pretty busy but not crazy busy which makes for a pleasant life here.
There are times when Scott and I need to get Enzo out of the apartment so Eli can concentrate.  Not to worry, the plaza down the street takes care of our need.  A large space and a drink!
Sometimes I will go for a walk and listen to my audiobooks while Eli and Enzo finish their homeschool with Scott.
In the end, we prefer to do a lot together, as a family.  Since we have no family here we do have to do everything together.  It's actually fun because Scott and I get to be kids too!
One of my favorite things to do is to walk the massive boardwalk.  The mornings are the most refreshing since the sun is on the east side of the island.  But the sunsets are to die for!  No matter where you are it's quite the site!
Technically we need to carve out 4 hours a day for homeschool.  To us, homeschool is all day long, with life lessons learned every moment of the day.  So whether we are in the apartment or in the pool, every moment to us is a homeschool moment.
So are we living a vacation life? Yes, aren't you?  We live like a local and explore like a tourist.  We did it in Key West, Fernandina Beach and even in Colorado Springs.  It's amazing how much there is to explore no matter where you call home.
